General Information

What are public and private keys?

When you create a digital wallet (whether cold or hot) on a blockchain, you are issued two essential keys: a public key and a private key.

Public Key (also known as your wallet address), can be compared to a bank account number that can be shared with others so they can send you digital assets. You can freely share your public key without worrying about compromising the security of your wallet.

Private Key is your secret code that allows you to access and control your funds. Think of it like the key to a vault—only you should have access to it. It’s crucial to keep your private key safe and secure. If anyone else gains access to it, they can also access and control your digital assets.
